Being sick blows. Being sick during finals week makes me want to shoot myself. Anyways, if you have been living under a rock: Nine Inch Nails has released another album titled, The Slip and it is 100% free. I’ve only had the opportunity give it one listen but I really like what I heard. Heavy percussion by the great Josh Freese and the any collaboration between Alessadro Cortini and Trent Reznor can only produce synthesizer greatness. Plus this album sees the return of guitarist Robin Finck. Download it and give it a listen: The Slip

Okay, so being a bay stater and all I am a huge fan of The Dresden Dolls. In my experience, there are two schools of thought: 1) “The Dolls are a fucking amazing band! They rock it live, engage the audience and deliver a truly unique auditory experience!” 2) “Why are these mimes singing?” I belong to the first school and believe The Dresden Dolls are a fucking fantastic band and you can’t change my mind.

During the recording of the acclaimed Yes, Virginia singer/songwriter/pianist/living statue Amanda Palmer wrote a slew of really great songs that never made it onto the album. I’ve had the pleasure of hearing a number of said songs live and must say that not releasing them was a mistake. Well, no longer must I fret for the Dolls have answered my prayers and will be releasing Yes, Virginia‘s counterpart No Virgina! A mixture of old and new, No, Virginia promises to be a great album that fans have been craving.

One of my dear favorite songs of mine has already been released on The Dresden Dolls’ myspace for your listening pleasure. Be sure to check out The Kill.

New NIN Single: Discipline

I know that I am a tad bit behind on all of this but for those of you who don’t know: Nine Inch Nails has released a new single for FREE. 100% Free high quality MP3. I feel that Discipline is quite a leap from NIN’s most release Ghosts I-IV. I mean it is a great single: catchy, easy to dance to, and everything that a single should be. However, it can also be interpreted as simple, repetitive, and below the high standard that Ghosts set.

Don’t Ya Want to Get Out of Cape Cod?

So I finally received my copy of Vampire Weekend’s self-titled premier album. My favorite off the album would have to be “Walcott” simply because of its insane catchiness and reference to my home. I wish that song had been around during my ever-loved high school years when I wanted to stab myself in the eye. Walcott- Vampire Weekend

Vampire Weekend has been quite the hot subject in the indie and college scenes. These guys recently did a a “secret show” for Pitchfork Media at Columbia University. I seriously suggest you check it out. Its an all acoustic set with an amazing Julliard-trained string trio. Pitchfork Media- Vampire Weekend
